Cats

We saw two more leopards today, one which was only obvious because we drove up on a huge number of safari vehicles by the side of the road.  The leopard was well hidden in the grass, already dozing from the growing heat of the day.

One of our jeeps spotted a second leopard completely on our own.  In fact it was Grace, henceforth to be known as The Leopard Spotter, who saw it deep in the grass as we drove by.  It felt like a really exciting secret and given how difficult it was to see, and it was an amazing thing!

We also saw a cheetah, although this guy was well-hidden and we pretty much could only see his head just barely poking up from the grass.  We watched for at least 20 minutes, hoping he would stand up, but the heat was too much and he was down for the day.

You can see by these photos how hidden the big cats keep themselves during the heat of the day.
